All Psychologists are registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, which ensures they’ve met high standards in education, training, supervised practice, ethical and professional standards, and ongoing professional development.
A Psychologist with provisional registration is someone who has completed their 5 years of tertiary qualifications (study, placements & research) and is undertaking a final year of ‘on the job’ supervised practice.
After this one year of supervised practice, they are eligible to apply for their general Psychologist registration.
Psychologist’s with provisional registration are not eligible for medicare rebates, therefore we charge a lower rate for them. This means you won’t require a mental health care plan or GP referral to see a Psychologist with provisional registration and they’re not limited in the number of sessions they can provide either!
All of our Provisionally Registered Psychologists are fully qualified, skilled and knowledgeable in all aspects of the services they provide. Psychologists with provisional registration are doing the same things a fully registered psychologist would be doing in their client work.
Being under supervision means that they are able to discuss their assessments and therapy implementation with a supervisor who is an even more experienced peer in the field of psychology.
